We have a 90 lb Malamute mix who gets hot easy and was in a shelter 11 months before we got her over six years ago. I finally decided to try to order this for her and our 7 month old French mastiff puppy who is ~80 lbs… my malamutt LOVES it. Once evening hits, I know I can find her lounging on the back patio on her “cot”. I’ve laid on it and I’m 189lbs. My husband of similar weight uses it as a step to get over the retaining wall. Im ordering a second one so our puppy doesn’t have to lay on the ground in jealousy. My dogs don’t chew furniture, so don’t know if chew proof and only had 1 month so don’t know how durable yet…I originally wrote this review in ~mid 2019…. Both large dogs love it AND I sometimes (at 195lbs) lie with them…. That’s 273-240 lbs… both beds are study still, despite being out in inclement weather and exceeding the weight limits. I bought a “couch” dog bed, which they have demolished over the past couple years. I bought a new “hammock” to replace their flat, funky, “memory foam…. The elevated beds have no stuffing to disperse, no foam to absorb odors and fluids, a hammock feel for dogs (and people)… my 95lb+ mutts give them 5 Stars. The owner of said mutts wants recognition…. Oh. And owner should never leave her phone out 😈🤫🤣😉
I'll start of by saying it was very easy to put together but a little tough; however, I figured out the best way to do it. I used a rubber mallet hammer to make sure the rods were in as far as they could go. It does get tight to put a couple linking rods together but using a little strength you can maneuver them in there. The mallet allowed me to get the last legs in right and tight. Now when it gets to the Velcro I ran short which was puzzling but I pulled and tugged on the fabric to move it towards the Velcro end and I used the mallet hammer to make sure the side rods were as far as they would go. I pulled and tugged the material up until I could Velcro it. When I figured that out I was pretty much done except linking the bottom rods together which you put both ends in the side rods then link them together in the middle. This is a very sturdy bed! The picture I have is 132 lbs together (Mom 1.5 years old and son 6 months old). I did buy two, one for each of them. The material seems to be very thick and sturdy. As of right now these are fantastic! I hope they stay this way 😊 I'll give all 5 stars for now and update if anything changes!
My dog is afraid of his own shadow.. hates change & new things.. does not adjust easily.. i was fully prepared to spend weeks working with him to get him into this thing. To my utter dismay, he hopped in as soon as i was done with assembly & has made himself quite comfortable. I bought it specifically so i could get him off the ground when he wants to lay outside & since we don't have a ton of free storage space in the house, one of his indoor beds sits on top of it while its inside. He loves sleeping in it!My dog is almost 10 yrs old, about 80lbs & has arthritis & a bad hip. This is so much better for his joints! He does not limp when getting out of it & has no problem with the small jump to get in it. I believe i bought the XL & while the L would have fit him, this gives him room to stretch out & is the same size as all his other beds. The fabric part is not stretchy so getting it to velcro close was a bit of a pain but it hasn't shown any signs of wear or loosening with my dog jumping in & out of it. My dog isnt a bed chewer so i don't worry about that, but again it seems pretty sturdy. So about the assembly.. not exactly hard but a pain in the butt. One of the pieces was bent in where the legs were supposed to connect so i had to spend time fixing it. Overall Im not sure what went wrong but the feet aren't level. One foot doesn't touch the ground, even when my dog is in it. Not a huge deal but it wobbles & while I'm not really worried about it falling over or anything like that, it's still annoying.Overall i feel it does a great job of supporting my dog & im so happy to have something to keep him off the hard hot concrete while we're outside.
