Heading out on a trail with your furry hiking buddy? Whether it’s a short walk in the woods or a full-day adventure, packing the right gear makes a huge difference, for both safety and comfort. Here’s a simple checklist we at AwooTrail follow every time we hit the trail with our own dog, Buddy.

🥾 Trail boots or paw protection (rocky, hot, or snowy trails)

🐕 Comfortable, adjustable harness

💧 Collapsible water bowl or dog water bottle

🍖 High-protein treats for energy

💊 Basic dog first-aid kit (includes tweezers for ticks, antiseptic, gauze)

💩 Poop bags & small garbage bag

🧥 Lightweight jacket (for rain or cold weather)

🐾 ID tag or GPS tracker (in case your pup gets too curious!)

✅ For You

🎒 Backpack or trail vest

🧴 Sunscreen and bug spray

🗺 Trail map or app

📸 Camera or phone (Buddy always makes a great model!)

🚿 Towel (especially if there's water or mud)

🐕 Extra leash or tether for rest break

Pro Tip from Our Experience:

We learned the hard way that not all dog boots or harnesses are made equal. We went through several before finding ones that actually stayed on Buddy’s paws and didn’t make him walk like a baby deer.
